Washington, July 25 - Earlier yesterday, two drones from Ukraine destroyed buildings in Moscow, the White House said it does not support Ukraine launching attacks inside Russia.
White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters at a press conference: "Generally, we do not support attacks inside Russia."
Russia has vowed to take harsh retaliatory measures against Ukraine, calling the two drone attacks shameless acts of terrorism, with one attack near Ukraine's Ministry of Defense headquarters.
"This war was started by Russia. It's their war," Jean-Pierre said. "They can withdraw from Ukraine at any time instead of launching brutal attacks on civilians."
No one was injured in this attack in Moscow, the most notable attack since two drones struck the Kremlin in May.
One drone struck near the Russian Ministry of Defense, highlighting the symbolic reach of such drone strikes. A senior Ukrainian official said there will be more attacks.
Meanwhile, Kyiv said yesterday that Russian drone strikes destroyed a grain depot on the Dnieper River, injuring 7 people.
The Kremlin said it will continue its so-called "special military operation" in Ukraine. Kyiv and most Western countries have called this a brutal war of conquest.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said a group of 17 drones also launched attacks on Crimea overnight. In 2014, Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine. Crimean Russian leaders said they targeted an ammunition depot and destroyed a residential building. - Reuters
